Leadership is :
lifting a person's vision to high sights,
the raising of a person's performance to a higher standard,
the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations.
Leadership is defined by results not attributes.
- Peter Drucker (father of modern management)
In a world gone crazy with demagoguery, it's very easy to get caught up by an individual's magnetism and charisma. To be fair, most leaders are charismatic and do have magnetic personalities - but this is only a very miniscule part of what it takes to be a leader.
We have to be discerning enough to hold our leaders to high standards - and at the end of the day, see what exactly they have delivered.
When the smoke clears, it's not the rhetoric that propels us or our kids forward, it's results.
